It was a great privilege and an awesome opportunity to once again go to Zimbabwe on a 6 day outreach.
The team, consisting of 5 members of our ministry, met in PTA on 3 August 2015. The team consisted of Len de Jongh from Kimberley, who was the team leader on this occasion, Jan Badenhorst from Pretoria, Gerhard Short from Mookgophong, who we picked up on our way to the border, Ryan Beukes from Carletonville, and myself from Carletonville.
We left Pretoria at 02h00 the Tuesday morning and headed for the border at Beitbridge. As is our usual custom, we had communion at the Hendrik Verwoerd tunnels near Musina. We had no trouble crossing the border this time and on our way back out again we crossed in a record time.
God’s hand was evident the whole time. We reached Norma Jean’s guesthouse by late afternoon. Our stay there over a week was very blessed indeed. The owner Norma Jean allowed us to pray with and for her. She had several injuries because of a black- out she had and a fall breaking her arm and causing head injuries. We prayed for her recuperation.
The following morning, Wednesday the 5th of August we left early for Masvingo, 30km from our lodging at Norma Jean’s at lake Mutirikwe or better known as lake Kyle. The whole area up to Masvingo is called Greater Zimbabwe. The Zimbabwe ruins are also situated between lake Mutirikwe and Masvingo.
Arriving at Masvingo we met with our Zimbabwean friends, Pastor Sonykiss Chimbuya, Pastor Gift Rampala from Buluwayo and Pastor Chatani Ndavani from a rural area outside of Mukonde Village, Masvingo. It was good to meet up with them again. We offloaded a lot of gifts, clothes, Bibles and Bible study material at Pastor Sonykiss’ house, for he is in charge of his church and ministry in Masvingo.
We left for the mountains and one of Pastor Sonykiss’ churches at Chikomba / Gweru. We first stopped at a food warehouse in Masvingo to buy supplies for “the people in the mountains” as we learned to call them! Mealie meal, soya mince, soap and cooking oil was the main items bought.
On our way to the mountains of Gweru we stopped by Pastor Never and his church at Chikomba. We prayed with them and gave them some of the provisions and gifts from South Africa like anointing oils.
Arriving at the mountain church and school we met up with Pastor Ernest, an old friend and familiar face at each year’s conference at Masvingo. The area at Gweru is known as Makoni (Manicaland). We met up and were introduced to the headmaster and the tribal chief welcoming us and giving us permission to minister in their area as per their customs. Pastor Ernest and his church received all the provisions of food, some of the Bibles and cultivating equipment. Pastor Ernest was so impressed he impressed on us that he wanted to show us his farm about 4km away. Later that evening Len de Jongh and I ministered separately to the church.
Early the next morning we left for Masvingo for the Pastor’s conference which was a tiring 380km away. At this stage Jan Badenhorst fell ill with a terrible flu. Gerhard Short and I had to manage the conference which started at 12h00. Ryan Beukes and Len de Jongh bought the food for the conference. Afterwards they left for our lodging place and for Jan to rest up before and for Jan to rest up before the weekend conference.
The Pastor’s conference went well and was well attended by various pastors, bishops and reverends.
Friday was our day off. We as a team went down to the lake for prayer time. Jan was feeling better. Afterwards we went to Morgenster mission station to have a look around. It has a rich history and was the first mission station of the old Rhodesia. The rest of the day was spent in quiet time and with team fellowship!
Friday evening the conference started and our team had time to preach till Saturday afternoon. On Sunday Jan, Gerhard and I finished off our Zimbabwe outreach at Pastor Sonykiss’ church. Len and Ryan went to pastor Chatani’s church 22km outside Masvingo on the Beitridge road.
Like I said, it was a privilege to once again visit Zimbabwe on this outreach. The Lord has spoken to each and everyone on our team on the way we will be ministering in Zimbabwe in future. Over the years we have grown and matured to such an extent that each of us can go on our own. Taking with us other men who we can teach and introduce to our friends over there, building their own relationships.
Our plan for next year is to split into three separate groups. We will cross the border together. One group will go to Bulawayo. The other to pastor Chatani’s church near Cheredzi. And the third group to Masvingo and surrounding churches. We will be evangelising in these areas. On the Friday we will all come together in Masvingo for the conference.
Please pray with us for the future outreaches to Zimbabwe.
All honour and glory to our Lord and Saviour, Jesus Christ.

Jesus groete.
Jan Badenhorst (OICB Groepleier)
Die Here het op my hart gesit dat ek geld moet vat en bybels koop om uit te deel, ek het so gedoen en daarna was ek uit genooi om ‘n Zimbabwe toer saam met OICB by te woon, ek was baie opgewonde, ek het saam met oom Johan in ‘n kar gery 2 uur die oggend, ons het dwars deur tot by die grens wakker gebly en lekker gelag en gekuier, die toer was my eerste keer land uit!
‘n Baie groot ondervinding vir my!
Wees geseend in JESUS CHRISTUS se Naam.
* Hoe klein kidz: +/-
* Jan het gevra ons moet vir ‘n betrokke dogter (+/-
Waar hulle borde was met water & kaal hande so skoon soos my masjien dit was ???? Vra ek jou ?

OICB (Authority In Christ Ministries) have returned from a recent outreach to Zimbabwe over the period 6-
The aim of the visit consisted of two parts: The first objective was in support of a local pastor in planting a new church in a rural area, whilst the second part was to minister in the vicinity of Masvingo at various churches and at conferences which take place on an annual basis. During the planning phase of the outreach, we decided on our team and spiritual leader JC (Johan) being part of OICB. His leadership and support was a blessing throughout the trip.
Our hosts in Zimbabwe, Gerhard and Trudie Burger live in Masvingo.
The team departed for Zimbabwe on Monday morning, 6 August 2012 at 3:30am from Pretoria in two vehicles hauling a trailer each. The supplies carried, were destined for the churches and the Burgers. Bibles, tracks and the Gospel of John were part of our load including each person’s personal kit. The loads stretched our transport and trailers to their limits, which later manifested in a breakdown in the rural area. The team led by JC, approached the outreach with much prayer, knowing and understanding our Lord was first in all and that we would be subject to Him in all our doings. At the borders, roadblocks and other opportunities tracts and the gospel of John in Shona, were freely distributed by the team.
On arrival at Masvingo we offloaded much of the needs that we transported, at Pastor Sonykiss’ home; there after continuing to overnight at the Burger’s, who always have a meal ready for visitors. Their hospitality and support can only be commended.
The next morning, day two of our visit was spent on the purchasing of supplies for the outreach in the rural areas and repacking of vehicles to accommodate three pastors on our mission to the rural area in the Mutare area in the Manica province, some 300 km distance by road from Masvingo.
We arrived at our destination at 15:00, after a breakdown on one of our trailers. An axel spring broke due to the weight of our supplies. The trailer was innovatively made mobile by our team members on a “Boer maak ‘n Plan” method and we were able to complete our trip with the trailer fixing it later in Masvingo.
We offloaded, prepared for the occasion and as a team met up with the local chief who gave us permission to operate in his area.
People in the area are very poor and money is scarce, trying to sustain themselves on subsistence farming, planting of crops and owning livestock. Living off the land, with the present situation due to drought has resulted in a food shortage in the area.
For two nights we ministered with the pastors and local pastors at two venues, of which the first was to plant a church. We thank our Lord for enabling us to assist and plant a church which will be served by the local pastors in the future. The “Jesus Film” was shown in the open skies on a big screen set up by the team. On enquiry to some locals, they mentioned that the last time any of them saw anything on a screen was in 1971. The “Jesus Film” resulted in many giving their hearts to the Lord and received Christ as their Savior. The team of 12 supported and prayed for the sick and for other requests. Due to support from South Africa we were able to supply many with maize meal, beans and soap. Pre-
The mornings following, people gathered for further ministering and received tracts and the Gospel of John. We were grateful that the Spirit of God had moved in the two communities and many of them were baptized in the nearby local river. We therefore were full of joy as God had blessed the area and the people.
After returning from the rural outreach, the team repaired the trailer and rested for a day, visiting the Kyle Dam, whilst the remainder of our stay was with the Burger’s in Masvingo.
On Friday 10 August 2012 preparations started for a conference in a local venue for the Church of Christ Ministries International which is led by Pastor Sonykiss. Many people attending came from the rural areas. In the congregation were mothers with babies, HIV positive people, orphans and the elderly. Once in Zimbabwe, one cannot come back home but unchanged. One only realizes that we in South Africa have been blessed to have so much, although the poor are here too. At least, when babies die, it is in the news. In Zimbabwe people and babies die of hunger, and nothing is said about the situation. They have truly lost a lot of what we take for granted, but they hang on to Jesus as their foundation, as there are many testimonies of God’s hand in their lives. Our own experience at our hosts was the scarcity of electricity and water that are cut off at random for long periods.
During Friday evening and Saturday the focus of the team was on the conference of the Church of Christ Ministries International, where our team members were involved. On Sunday our members were invited to minister at various churches and conferences.
One also has to realize that a whole generation in their communities has been taken out, due to persecution, war and aids. This can be observed in the women who have lost the ability to knit or sew, a skill that has not been passed on due to the situation. There is continuous excitement at our hosts’ home, because women are being trained in the ability to care for families in the making and repairing of their own clothing.
We returned to South Africa on Monday 13 August 2012, knowing that our Lord had used the OICB group in a wonderful way in His kingdom. Praising God for support from the Burgers and the opportunities we had there for the Kingdom. On arrival we received a sms message from one of the pastors who was supported by our outreach in Zimbabwe:
Thanks for the visitors you send to our church many people were healed and the teaching was so good many people know the truth may God bless you and your wife. Pastor Gwara”
The team was blessed by all the prayers and support to enable the outreach.
We greet with the following:
“We give thanks to God always for you all,
making mention of you in our prayers, remembering without ceasing your work of faith, labour of love, and patience of hope in our Lord
Jesus Christ in the sight of our God and Father,
knowing, beloved, your election by God.”
1 Thess. 1:2-

Jesus groete

Pretoria
I was privileged enough to attend a conference weekend in Masvingo with the team of OICB led by Jan Badenhorst.
We left Pretoria in the early hours of Thursday morning, with 2 vehicles and trailers stuffed with clothes and other donated items, we were informed to avoid the Beit Bridge border crossing into Zimbabwe, and so we decided to detour through Botswana – a supposed extra 200km.
We arrived at the Martin’s Drift border crossing into Botswana at 06:30, just in time to be the 3rd and 4th vehicles in line. The South African side went very quick, except for the gate passes the guard at gate neglected to provide us with. Upon filling in the vehicle papers, Jan asked one of the other team members where the papers for our trailer was, and J.C informed Jan that he did not have them. Jan of course thought it was a joke. When we left the South African side we assured the official that our paperwork for the trailer was with our friends, and he let us go.
Arriving at the Botswana side, we were informed by the people of the other vehicle that there was a person who wanted to “steal” our meat and that we should not stop at this “unofficial inspector”. We just went past this “unofficial inspector” and you could see his disappointment. The paperwork went smooth and we were still under the impression our friends had the paperwork for our trailer. Upon arriving at the last official, the driver of the first vehicle was informed to report to the “unofficial inspector”. Jan and I were allowed to continue.
We decided to have breakfast while we waited for the other vehicle, and we waited for about an hour, for this little misunderstanding to be sorted out, and we could continue with all the meat we had. Suddenly in the middle of nowhere, we saw a warning light coming on which indicates that there is a problem with the diesel (water in diesel) we put in, in Botswana. We stood around the engine and prayed and we believed that Jesus would solve the problem. From there and back for more than 1000km we drove without any problem.
It was only when we arrived at the Zimbabwe border crossing that Jan realised that J.C was not joking about the paperwork for the trailer. But yet again we had favour and we could continue on our journey.
We arrived at Masvingo after 19:00 that evening, after a ± 400km detour. There we met with a pastor from Witbank, and he told us that it took him 15 minutes to cross the border at Beit Bridge. Thursday night everybody went to bed early.
On Friday morning, we went to town early with Pastor Sonnykiss to buy the food for the people in need, thanks to donations, but one of our team members Ryan, suddenly fell ill. On Friday he stayed in bed, because of the illness. He was feeling very bad and he had to preach on Saturday morning. All of us stood around him and we prayed, because we knew it is just an attack from the devil. We planned to have a site seeing trip to Lake Kyle, and to have lunch somewhere next to the lake, and Ryan stayed home.
Friday evening the conference started, and Jan was the first speaker. At first things looked as though there was going to be chaos, and we stood in unity and prayed. After the session finished, we went home, we stayed with Gerhard and Trudie Burger, where we found little improvement in Ryan’s condition. Saturday morning there was such a big improvement in Ryan’s health that he could attend the whole day of the conference and bring his message that he was supposed to bring.
I wish everybody could see the devotion with which the local people worship the Lord. It is not unheard of for them to praise and worship for hours at a time.
Everything was planned for Sunday, we would first attend Pastor Sonnykiss’ church from 9:00 till 11:00 and then from 12:00 till 14:00 we would attend a second service at another church.
The Sunday morning we attended the church of Pastor Sonnykiss, where we had the privilege to be ministered to by one of the local pastors. There were also 4 people who asked if they could be baptised, and Jan baptised them.
It was about 13:30 when we arrived at the second service. J.C led the sermon. And at around 16:00 we left.
When we arrived back home, we had the privilege to enjoy the rest of the afternoon with oom Pat, who turned 80 earlier that week. Everybody turned in early Sunday evening, for we had to get up at 03:30 Monday morning for our return trip.
We decided to return through Beit Bridge, where we had minor “sandpaper” moments as Jan would call them, but we were back in Pretoria just after 15:00 that afternoon.
“Thank You Heavenly Father that you looked after and cared for us, all the way. Thank You that we could see Your hand at work in Zimbabwe, and that we could be part of Your work in Zimbabwe.”
Thank you Jan, J.C, Ryan, Trevor, you taught me a few things about praying at border crossings.

So ons skedule was omvergegooi.
Sondag was daar twee dienste gelewer by die kerke.

KON UITDEEL. OM TE SIEN HOE HONGER DIE MENSE VIR DIE WOORD VAN GOD IS, EN DIT NA ONS MIN OF MEER 5 URE LAAT WAS A.G.V. PAD TOESTANDE EN ONVOORSIENE PROBLEME, WAS ‘N WONDERLIKE GESIG. ONS IS ONTVANG DEUR ‘N GROEP VROUENS WAT VIR ONS ‘N CHRISTELIKE SHONA LIED GESING HET. JAN BADENHORST EN JC LE ROUX HET DIE OM EN BY 400 MENSE (VOLWASSENES EN KINDERS) TOEGESPREEK EN NAGMAAL BEDIEN.
DIE SONDAG HET ONS PASTORE CHATANI EN SONIKUS SE AFSONDERLIKE KERKE BESOEK. HULLE KRAGOPWEKKERS, KLANKTOERUSTING ENS. IS UITGEDEEL.
