We are happily married since 1997, live in Port Elizabeth and boast with two wonderful sons, Tertius and Tiaan. We are both full-time self-employed entrepreneurs, but first & foremost, we are Ambassadors of heaven.
Both of us were raised in the Afrikaans traditional church environment. We will always be grateful for this upbringing because it was through an evangelical church that we were both born again. However, everything changed when one of our children started asking questions about infants’ baptism vs. believers’ baptism, just before his confirmation in another reformed church we were attending at the time. We knew something was amiss when the Sunday school teacher taught him that he was saved through his baptism as an infant, and there was no mention of being born again as a prerequisite for his confirmation in church. We started digging deep into the Word for ourselves and researching the subject. We stumbled upon Tiaan Gildenhuys’s teaching, and the rest is history, as they say…. We absolutely love the way every AICM teaching uses the Word as its main source of truth. Matt 16:16 called us as the parents of the household to be baptized first, what a significant day in our spiritual life! The Holy Spirit introduced Himself to us as a person, in a brand-new way and breathed new life into our relationship with God. We realized that we were reading the Bible all along wearing ‘religious glasses’ that was blinding us to parts of the Bible that did not fit into our preconceived church doctrine.
We had to wipe the slate clean and started reading the whole Word from scratch, together with the Holy Spirit as our only teacher. The AICM teachings confirmed everything we learnt.
During Covid lockdown, we pressed into the Word and Holy Spirit took us as a family through a period of intense sanctification.
I had the privilege to baptise both our sons during this time as well. We discovered the power in fasting and praying, receiving the baptism of the Holy Spirit, and learning about the gifts of the Holy Spirit, all ‘firsts’ for us. We hungered for the Word and a new fire in the belly suddenly started, EVANGELISM! My wife took the bold step of recording our family’s testimony on a You Tube channel called ‘Die Getuienis’. We designed and started manufacturing a Good News wristband based on Acts 2:38 (as an evangelism and discipleship tool), which we started distributing at outreaches.
Then, we saw a Facebook reel of a Prayer Drive Thru in Texas and immediately we knew this is what we are called for. We knew in theory what God’s Word calls us to do in Matt 28:19-20 and Luk 4:18, but now we wanted to put it into practice. We realized our identity and authority in Jesus Christ of Nazareth, and that is why the Prayer Drive Thru made so much sense, because the “persons of peace” approaches us for prayer out of their own accord, making them so much more susceptible for an encounter with God. One huge leap of faith later, and we hosted our first Prayer Drive Thru in Aug 2023 in our suburb (Lorraine) and God provided every step of the way regarding funds, flyers (seed), prayer volunteers (harvesters) and most importantly, the visitors (harvest).
God’s blessing has just been so evident and the Holy Spirit’s presence has always been tangible at every event. Some people would start crying when they see the very first board next to the road with a scripture and an invitation to come for prayer. The world is so desperate for prayer: healing, deliverance, exhortation, broken marriages, wayward children, addictions etc.
We are so blessed to have an anointed team of people across many denominations who come together every month on a volunteer basis. There is such unity in Jesus Christ when everyone on the team works together and step out in obedience, out of their comfort zone. We are all bound by a common denominator, the love of Jesus and our goal to spread the gospel of the Kingdom.
Every single visitor to the Prayer Drive Thru is followed up and we attempt to attend to their needs, whether it is purely ongoing prayer requests, intercession, fellowship, friendship, salvation (followed by baptism & discipleship), counselling and / or encouragement. The volunteer team grows every month, when passing by believers get ignited by the fire, wanting to get involved. Our prayer is that this idea will spread like wildfire throughout South Africa inspiring more believers to report for duty for The Great Commission and Great Commandment.
We are so grateful and privileged to be part of the AICM family now and looking forward to following the Holy Spirit’s lead for the next part of our exciting journey with Abba Father!
Please feel free to contact us, if you know someone in Port Elizabeth who may need prayer or would like to join our ministry.
Blessings to all our brothers and sisters in Jesus Christ of Nazareth,
Warmest regards, Dawid and Malinda
